A Bridge Life on Fox News’ Geraldo At Large:
On Sunday Night, Aug. 29th, Dan Sheffer and I appeared briefly on Geraldo At Large on Fox News. Our inimitable host played a clip of A Bridge Life and praised it as a great documentary. We hope to be doing a full sit-down with Geraldo two Sundays from now in advance of the film’s next showing on Wednesday Sept. 15th.

“A Bridge Life follows a Good Samaritan, Dan Sheffer, who travels to Houston where 200,000 evacuees were forced to flee in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. He subsequently takes back seven survivors to South Florida where he helps them get jobs and places to stay only to get more than he bargained for when one of the evacuees commits a horrible crime.” Director Joshua Grossberg on his film “A Bridge Life: Finding Our Way Home” which is screening at the Victoria Film Festival.

A Bridge Life has won top awards at the Ft. Lauderdale Film Festival (Spirit of the Independents Award), Columbus Film & Video Festival (Chris Award), Naples Film Festival (Neapolitan Award) and the Canada International Film Festival (Rising Star Excellence in Filmmaking Award). Most documentaries about Hurricane Katrina — and there have been a lot in the past four years — address its many disasters, whether political, natural, man-made, and/or moral. A Bridge Life: Finding Our Way Home doesn’t shy from such material, nor does it avoid the painful, shameful memories. … But unlike a lot of its predecessors, A Bridge Life, directed by Josh Grossberg, is less concerned with making a political statement than it is with simply telling the story of a Plantation resident who extended a hand to make a difference in the lives of a few. Josh Grossberg’s documentary A Bridge Life: Finding Our Way Home chronicles the actions of a man named Dan Sheffer as he travels to Houston in the wake of the 2005 hurricane in the United States. In the midst of the national disaster, Sheffer’s goal is to get as many evacuees as possible out of the Houston Astrodome, a place where more than 30,000 survivors were sent after being evacuated from New Orleans.
